On the afternoon of Thursday, January 30, a fire broke out in Sector 22 of the Maha Kumbh fairgrounds, triggering a rapid response from firefighters. According to reports, there have been no reported injuries or fatalities, and the fire has been contained.

Additionally, officials have arrived at the scene to assess the situation and prevent any serious damage.

This marks the third instance of a fire occurring at the Maha Kumbh Mela grounds in recent days.

The first fire took place on January 19 in the Gita Press camp area of the fairgrounds, purportedly triggered by a cylinder explosion. As stated by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of the Maha Kumbh Mela, Vivek Chaturvedi, the fire destroyed approximately 70 to 80 huts and between eight to ten tents.

On January 25, the second one took place on the main road leading to the fairground during the early morning hours, which caused panic among local residents. The fire consumed two parked vehicles before multiple fire trucks were deployed to extinguish it. Again, no injuries were reported.

Furthermore, in light of the recent tragic stampede, the Uttar Pradesh government has established a three-member judicial commission to investigate the incident's causes.

The commission, headed by retired judge Harsh Kumar, also includes former Director General of Police (DGP) V K Gupta and retired IAS officer D K Singh. The commission has been tasked with completing its investigation within a month but is committed to expediting the process. Kumar confirmed that the commission members will soon visit Prayagraj to carry out a comprehensive investigation.

The commission has been given one month to complete its investigation but aims to expedite the process. Kumar confirmed that the panel members would soon visit Prayagraj to conduct a thorough probe.

The stampede occurred between 1 AM and 2 AM on Mauni Amavasya, one of the Kumbh Mela's most important bathing days, resulting in 30 fatalities and 60 injuries.
